Bodleian Library

Application: Library

The project

The Bodleian Library is a library in South Marston, near Swindon.

It is one of the biggest libraries in the United Kingdom and it offers space for up to 8,4 Million books.

In addition to the books, the library also houses a variety of maps, manuscripts, microfilms and old newspapers.

The library itself is “only” as big as 1.6 soccer fields, but the shelves for the books are in total as large as 16.5 soccer fields.

The construction of the library started in summer 2009.

It was completed a year later - in 2010 – the same year in which a Disan central vacuum system was installed.
