The Vilnius University Library was founded by Jesuits in 1570, making it the oldest library in Lithuania.
A year earlier, in 1579, these Jesuits were sent there by the Archbishop of Vilnius.
A total of around 4.5 million media articles are distributed on 166 kilometers of shelves.
The new library was inaugurated in 2012.
The building is now very modern and consists of three inclined towers.
There is a Disan central vacuum unit in the center of each tower.
